Francis Male

Born: 9-Sep-1881
Died:     Said to have been "lost at sea"; may have abandoned his ship, in which case he probably would have changed his name.

Occupation: NYC Policeman, farmer in Fork Hill, Armagh; sailor.

Was living at 147 West 62nd Street when his sister Bridget arrived from Ireland

Comments: Arrived in NYC before being married. He returned to Northern Ireland, to manage the family farm when his brother Thomas died at Sea - but wasn't happy about returning.  He married and had a daughter, and wanted to return to U.S.A. His wife refused. He then signed on as a sailor. His wife was told that he was "lost at sea", but the family recieved no recompense from the British government. It is possible he deserted when the ship arrived to NYC. Mary (Fagan) Casey continued to send packages with supplies from the U.S.
